During the fall semester of 2013, Junior Achievement of the Chisholm Trail provided JA programs to 1,906 middle and high school students in Fort Worth. The Global Giving project's contributions covered the cost of 292 of these students. Junior Achievement secured contributions from other local corporations and individuals to pay for the remainder of the students in the programs.
The middle and high school students participated in the following JA programs: JA Personal Finance, JA Career Success, JA It's My Business, and JA Economics for Success. These programs expose students to career opportunities, provide knowledge and skills that allow the students to obtain and succeed at a livable wage career, and teaches the financial management skills to maintain their financial independence. Since the majority of the students involved in the programs are from low/moderate income families, as identified by the Texas Education Agency, the JA programs can help some of these students break a cycle of poverty that their families may have been trapped in.
