This project will build a 400 square kilometers rain garden in rural area of Beijing, and solve the problem caused by rainwater in rural areas, such as sewage overflow, waterlogging, pollutants carried into the river, and serious water pollution. About 4000 villagers will be benefited, 40000 kiloliters of water could be conserved, and the nearest river could be protected.
Due to the ground surface hardening in the peri-urban areas of Beijing, the capacity for precipitation drainage is insufficient. Flood accumulation is serious, and the pipeline cannot drain the accumulated water away time. After the rainfall lands on the ground rain and sewage are not separated, and a large amount of rainwater mixed with sewage flows directly into river. About 4000 villagers will be benefited.
We will construct a rain garden in the village, reduce the pollution of rivers and alleviate flooding in the community through infiltration, storage and purification of rainwater into rivers, while raising the awareness of community residents on environmental protection and improving the community environment.
The project aims to solve a complex system problem with local and simple solutions, to promote changes in the larger region through the demonstration effect of one community, to enhance the capacity of rural vulnerable areas to cope with climate change in the context of climate change adaptation, and to achieve equal response to climate change in all regions.
