Special school for Children with Autism in Ghana

The Pinasol Foundation continues to advance its mission to establish an inclusive learning environment for neurodivergent children in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region in Ghana. The primary aim of Project #73557 is to address the severe lack of local specialized infrastructure by creating an accessible, supportive facility for 120 children and youth living with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, and other complex developmental needs. To bring this project to fruition, our construction and development plan centers on building a six-unit inclusive classroom block equipped with wheelchair ramps, accessible sanitation, therapy spaces, and outdoor activity areas, while simultaneously equipping the school with assistive technology and training thirty local educators in specialized inclusive pedagogy.

To support these critical efforts and secure the necessary financial resources, the Pinasol Foundation actively participated in GlobalGiving's 24-Hour July Bonus Day campaign. This targeted "Double Your Impact" fundraising drive took place from Wednesday, July 15 at 10:00 AM EDT through Thursday, July 16 at 10:00 AM EDT. During this intensive twenty-four-hour window, donors were encouraged to contribute $100 or more to unlock matching funds from GlobalGiving's dedicated $150,000 matching pool for eligible gifts up to $1,500, as well as compete for a share of $9,000 in bonus prizes.

Although our organization did not secure direct funding through this specific campaign, participating in the initiative provided invaluable international visibility for the Pinasol Foundation and our mission. The global platform enabled us to showcase the critical need for a special school in Ghana to a wider audience of potential partners, advocates, and donors. Moving forward, we are leveraging this heightened awareness and network engagement to drive our ongoing fundraising efforts, remaining fully committed to securing the resources required for classroom construction, staff training, sensory equipment, and long-term integration into the district education system.
