This project will build and equip an inclusive learning centre in Sekyere East to support children and youth with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, dementia, and behavioural challenges. It will provide accessible classrooms, sensory and therapy spaces, assistive technology, and trained teachers so 120 learners can access safe, adapted education. Community engagement and teacher training will ensure sustainability and long-term impact.
In SekyereEast District of Ghana there isa significant gap in educational infrastructure and inclusive teaching resources for children and youth with neurodevelopmental conditions (Autism, CerebralPalsy) and for those experiencing challenging behaviour, as well as earlyonset dementia conditions or complex needs. These young people are frequently excluded from formal education or lack a safe, wellequipped classroom environment adapted to their needs. This project aims to address exactly that
1.Construct a six-unit inclusive classroom block with accessible toilets, ramps, sensory & therapy spaces, and an outdoor shaded activity area 2.Procure and install specialist furniture, sensory and therapy equipment,ICT/assistive technology and learning aids 3.Train 30 teachers and support staff in inclusive pedagogy, classroom management, behaviour support and assistive technology 4.Enrol and support 120 learners with diverse needs, providing adapted curricullum and integrated therapy sessions
This facility will create a safe, dignified and stimulating learning environment for children who are currently excluded. Expected outcomes include increased enrolment and attendance, improved social-communication and adaptive skills, strengthened local teacher capacity in inclusive education, and a sustainable model that can be adopted by neighbouring districts. The facility will be integrated into the district education system after project close-out so the gains are sustained.
