Hello Dear Animal Lovers,
Summer is here, the birds are chirping, and the days are long and warm. It is also time to make sure fewer kittens and cats will be abandoned in the forests and on roadways in Romania by seeing to it they are spayed or neutered. We see daily at our two clinics the costs for not sterilizing unwanted cats....cats run over by cars, kittens with their eyes completely infected or with herpes infections. Cats that lose limbs due to accidents with trollies. The only humane way to stop this suffering before it starts is by investing in spay and neuter.
Kitten season is always challenging for the animals and us. We rely on your support to stop this cycle of unwanted births and abandonment. Only $25, or 23 Euro, or £19 will spay or neuter a cat.
We are currently asking for donations to help build an extension on the Center of Hope (Bucharest area) specifically for spay and neuter. Our "Buy a Brick" fundraiser hopes to raise funds to get this extension up and running. The bricks are $20 each.
This season we have spayed and neutered using the 2 vet clinics (Family Vet Craiova and Center of Hope Bucharest) as well as the Red Van to set up mash spay campaigns in towns and villages in community centers. The Spay Shuttle which picks up animals from their villages, spays and neuters them at Center of Hope, then returns them to their guardians following recovery. We have reached the towns of Tecuci (twice), Giugiu, Dumitresti, Campina Villages (six times), Provita and Vasitati, Craiova and the villages outside of Bucharest near Center of Hope. Our new extension will allow us to do even more surgeries, education and veterinary training.
As of June 30, RAR has spayed and neutered 92,995 dogs and cats, 5539 in 2021. We also trained 3 new vets this season, one from Craiova and two from Cluj. They will go back to their communities and provide excellent spay neuter surgeries to their local animals.
