Challenges arise in every community. We believe the ones that occur in the SPARC community are opportunities.
We help adults with disabiities in Northern Virginia. We've opened three facilities and could open three more without serving all of the people in our area.
Our friends have a variety of conditions that present challenges in their everyday lives as well as their loved ones.
Because we believe that every member of a community deserves to fully participate in that community, we are working with our participants and staff to learn sign language (ASL) in an online setting.
Inclusion Means Learning Too
Our friends may be in a wheelchair or have neurological or breathing diseases. And some are completely non-verbal while still others are completely hearing impaired.
We will be working together so that seven SPARC employees and some of the assistants who help can completely welcome two friends who are deaf and six more who are non-verbal.
All people need to communicate with others. By helping us pay for this training, we can continue our mission of complete inclusion in every way possible.
Your gift of $75 pays for one staff member to attend the ASL training and completely open the doors of communication, learning, and respect for the ways in which we are all different.
