Communities Are Changing Thanks To You!

By Jonathan Steck | Senior Editor

Villages in South Sudan are growing thanks to you!
Villages in South Sudan are growing thanks to you!

Your gifts are making such a life-changing difference in South Sudan.

In the most remote villages, you’re bringing hope to people who have endured decades of suffering and hardship. But they’re now seeing the benefit of your support, and enjoying the new opportunity that it brings.

Thanks to you, children are getting more chances to learn and be educated, clean water and nutritious food is becoming more accessible, and incomes are on the rise thanks to the introduction of job skills training.

Right now, your gifts are teaching moms and dads new skills that are allowing them to grow the household income and invest in their family’s future. With some extra money, children are able to attend school more regularly and small businesses are able to expand.

As farming communities, these families rely heavily on fertile land but in the midst of a long-term drought, planting and harvesting crops can be incredibly difficult. But thanks to you, the families that work the land now look forward to nutritious food year round.

In recent weeks, your gifts have trained groups of farmers in soil fertility, and drought-resistant farming techniques. You’ve provided hardier seeds and the right tools for them to work the rocky and parched soil. Your generosity is giving families hope, and inspiring farmers with the knowledge and confidence needed to improve the texture and health of the soil.

But the impact of your generosity hasn't stopped there! You were also able to teach the village women new business skills that was immediately put into practice at the local market. With their new knowledge, mothers have been able to significantly contribute to the family income and start women’s savings groups to encourage other women to start small businesses of their own.

We can’t thank you enough for standing with these men, women, and children. It’s because of you that these once displaced families have new hope, and feel empowered to not only work their way out of poverty, but to contribute to the financial health of their community.

You are the backbone to the success in these remote South Sudanese villages. Thank you for helping the poorest people break the cycle of poverty once and for all.
