SOS Earthquake Solidarity Morocco

The purpose of this report is to present progress on our actions with children and families affected by the earthquake.
Our team is now active in more than 8 villages in the El Haouz valley and has reached over 600 children with its humanitarian actions.

A lot of progress has been made in our communication with the authorities (the Marrakech prefecture and the head of the rural affairs division) to inform them of the actions planned in the field. We have also seen progress in our communication with local associations, which is essential for validating our actions in the field.

The identification of douars, families and needs enabled us to put in place effective logistics, and our distributions were organized as follows:
- distribution of shoes to 70 children
- distribution of hot water bottles to 26 women
- distribution of 78 clothing kits to 45 girls and 33 boys

In the second phase of the project, we identified three other douars. (Doukouj and Imi Nougerzi and Amzouzit), and we launched a mission to identify and classify data and needs in close collaboration with the local associations in the targeted douars and the community relays. This identification phase enabled us to identify a need for psychosocial assistance, particularly for children, and to prioritise
- Educational support in the form of tutoring.
- Purchases have been made to acquire the school kits requested and others are being launched for the next school year, Sept 2024.
- setting up ‘child-friendly spaces’ to provide a friendly, stimulating environment where children can play, learn and rebuild after the trauma of the earthquake

Our team is actively involved in the field and with families to support those affected by the earthquake, and our actions aim at a lasting impact.
