This report put the light on the actions undertaken by the Foundation Orient-Occident (FOO) in the region of Al Haouz in Morocco, following the earthquake that hit the region. Thanks to the support of donors like GlobalGiving, the FOO was abble to give a humanitarian aid and a crucial support to the affected communities.
Needs assessment and immediate response
Rigorous assessments realised by FOO’s teams in the field permited to identify the most urgent needs for the affected villages. Facing the emergency of the situation, the FOO has oriented its work on the most isolated villages and the most severly hit.
Actions of the Foundation Orient-Occident
Scolar kits distribution
More than 220 scolar kits have been distributed among 8 villages, offering students essential school supplies for their studies.
Artistic caravan
An artistic caravan took place every months, benefiting to children from 4 different villages with games, theatre and manual activities.
Artistic workshop
Various artistic workshops, including painting, handicraft and story-telling, were organised to entertain and educate the children affected by the earthquake.
Menstrual hygiene workshop
Workshops were organised in order to raise awarness on menstruations and hygiene among the girls of the rural area. Underwear sets and educativ guides were also distributed.
Workshop on preventions against sexual exploitation
Workshops were organised to educate children and social workers on the dangers of sexual exploitation. Books and pens were also distributed to promote women’s literacy.
A day for the environement in Tinmel
A day was dedicated to educate children on the
protection of the environement trough drawing, painting and cleaning.
School tutoring
Students having followed school tutoring classes have shown significative improvements in their studies, with a success rate reaching 80%.
The provided support permitted to respond to the essential needs of children and families, to promote the education and awarness, and to offer a glimpse of hope in these difficult times.
