Update from Rumah Wakaf – “DesaKu Bisa Terang” Program
According to Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS), around 40% of remote villages still lack sufficient street lighting, contributing to a 30% higher traffic accident rate in poorly lit areas. In East Nusa Tenggara, over 75,000 homes and 300 villages remain without electricity.
To help address this, Rumah Wakaf launched the “DesaKu Bisa Terang” (My Village Can Shine) initiative by distributing solar-powered lights to underserved areas. We installed 15 solar panels across 3 villages in Manggarai Barat:
Kolong, Desa Siru, Lembor – 5 solar lights
Lalang, Desa Wae Jare, Mbeliling – 5 solar lights
Wae Tulu, Kelurahan Tangge, Lembor – 5 solar lights
This effort has benefited approximately 1,200 residents.
Despite challenging terrain, our team remained committed to reaching these remote communities. The success of this phase strengthens our resolve to continue expanding this impact across other electricity-deprived regions in Indonesia.
Thank you for your continued support in lighting up lives.
