The rainy season is underway at Yaowawit. Wet and dark school grounds have attracted snakes. The children have run into them in the gardens, playgrounds, toilets, and classrooms. To date, over twenty sightings of snakes have been recorded in the last two months alone. We cannot let our children, who live full-time at Yaowawit, be exposed to a risk of a snakebite. They must be safe at all time. Thus, we need your support to buy some snake repellent devices and garden lamps for the school grounds.
During the rainy season, many snakes invade the school grounds, posing a risk of snakebites to the children, who study in their open gardens or classrooms, who play in the playgrounds, or who use the toilets. The children have seen over twenty snakes in those places within these last two months alone. If we do not use these snake repellent devices and garden lamps to scare off snakes, the children will be in risk of snakebites.
We install outdoor snake repellent devices and garden lamps around and at the school grounds. Based on our estimation, we need at least 100 snake repellent devices to be planted along 300-m path covering gardens, playgrounds, classrooms, and dormitories. And 15 garden lamps will be placed at dark areas. That way, we can scare off snakes from entering the school grounds. Thus, the incidents in which the children seeing snakes near them can be minimized. Therefore, the children feel safe again.
By being able to minimize the number of encounters between our children and snakes will help our children reduce their worries of snake bites. Because our children live at the school full-time, knowing that they are secure and safe is crucial for their health. Thus, they can play and do school activities again as normal and happy children.
