There was a report on Monday 9 May 2022 to officers from the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) of North Sumatra that a mother of a Sumatran slow loris and her baby entered a resident's house in the village of Tiga Juhar, Deli Serdang Regency and was secured by one of the residents.
To avoid the isolated slow loris from entering the village which potential later fall into the hands of irresponsible people then the villager secured the mother and baby first. The actions of these residents are highly appreciated by fellow ISCP volunteers and officers from the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) of North Sumatra.
And then Tuesday, May 10, 2022, officers from the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) of North Sumatra released this Sumatran slow loris back into the conservation forest between the borders of Karo Regency and Deli Serdang.
The Sumatran slow loris (Nycticebus coucang) is a wild animal protected by the biodiversity law of the Republic of Indonesia. ISCP greatly appreciates the efforts of the community to report the isolated loris incident to the North Sumatra BKSDA officers from the increasingly narrow habitat in the Tiga Juhar village plantation area with proper handling efforts so that it does not cause a negative impact for both the Sumatran slow loris itself and the community that owns the garden. around the village.
Friday, April 15, 2022, the Aceh Bksda team accompanied by representative ISCP volunteers confiscated 1 individual male Sumatran slow loris, from a resident of Simpang Lukup village,Wih Pesam sub-district, Benar Meriah district.
He got a slow loris from a coffee plantation, last Sunday, then kept it for a few days at his house, the keeper did not know that the animal was protected, the Bksda team conducted socialization to the residents who kept the slow loris not to keep the slow loris or other wild animals again in future.
Because the slow loris has only been kept for one week by the residents, where the slow loris is still wild and healthy, then on the same day the slow loris is released back into nature in the forest conservation area in Central Aceh Regency.
