Bijaylaxmi’s husband is an Auto rickshaw driver who was somehow able to manage his family of four people including two daughters. Since his income was just hand to mount they were not able to invest money for the education of their children. A visionary woman, Bijaylaxmi wanted to earn herself to supplement the family income so that their children can study well and live a dignified life. She learned about Ruchika’s Vocational Training program and joined the training. She was found dedicated to her skill training. Soon after her training completed she was helped to get a job in Navajyoti Tailor, Bhubaneswar for Rs. 7000/- per month.
Meanwhile the National lockdown was started in India in March 2020 due to outbreak of Corona virus. As a result the movement of people was restricted and even when lockdown was lifted her husband was not able to earn enough to feed his family as people are not using auto rickshaw in fear of Covid infection.
So Bijaylaxmi was the only support to the family. During lockdown she started making quality masks and sold in them in the community and in local market. She earned about 5000 - 6000 rupees per month and when her establishment was opened she started working and received her monthly salary. Her family is totally dependent on her earning and living happily. She became the rescuer for her family during Covid crisis.
