Summary

This project aims to improve the livelihoods and well-being of Tharu and marginalized communities in Banke and Bardiya Nepal by providing tailoring training for 30 women, supports 31 leaf plate enterprises, offering Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) support to 62 people, installing eight hand pumps, and waste management drums for 200 households, This project help to support income opportunities, reduce health risks, and create sustainable futures rooted in self-reliance.

Challenge

Agriculture sustains most people in Banke and Bardiya , but land fragmentation, unemployment, and lack of alternative skills force many-especially Tharu communities and former Kamaiyas into risky wage labor. Women face high joblessness, and poor Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) conditions worsen health and expenses, deepending poverty and socio-economic inequalities.

Solution

This project empowers marginalized indigenous groups in Banke and Bardiya through providing tailoring training to 30 women and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) training, support for women-led leaf plate enterprises, and installation of 8 hand pumps and waste management facilieies for 200 households. By strengethening skills, market access, and local innovation, it aims to boost incomes, reduce poverty, and improve community health.

Long-Term Impact

Women and Youth gain sustainable income, and reducing unsafe migration. Families enjoy stable income and self-reliance. Communities experience better health & lower medical costs. And Dignity, innovation & resilience break the cycle of poverty for generations.
