Dear Friends and Supporters,
We’re thrilled to share the latest news from Siyakhula Educare! Since our last update, our family has grown to 46 children, and we are excitedly preparing to introduce a full Grade R class in the new year. Already, we have received four new applications for 2026, reflecting the growing trust and interest in our community school.
This October, we are excited to welcome Action Change and Murph Foundation volunteers from the USA. Their support will help us improve the security and facilities at Siyakhula, which is urgently needed due to multiple break-ins we’ve experienced. Our plans include:
Fixing and replacing the fence with our neighbor
Installing security bars on all external windows and gates on every external door
Replacing metal door handles with plastic to deter theft
Upgrading taps and pipes to rubber/plastic materials
Purchasing a secure safe and stronger gate access lock
While we are fortunate to have volunteers ready to help with these improvements, we need to raise funds this month to purchase the necessary equipment.
In addition, we’re addressing a water issue that has caused unusually high bills over the past three months and is putting financial strain on the centre. We are also planning to paint the third upstairs classroom and raise funds to equip it with tables, chairs, and other essentials, ensuring our classrooms continue to provide a safe and welcoming learning environment.
Despite these challenges, we continue to provide excellent education and care, and the Siyakhula community is thriving. Your support means the world to us as we work to make Siyakhula a safe, inspiring, and sustainable place for all our children.
Thank you for being part of our journey!
Warm regards,
