Sing and learn from home

Little by little we are resuming normality, children are returning to their schools and we have been able to start face-to-face classes. Therefore, we are going to close this program but you can continue supporting us in Youth singers transform lives by teaching others program.

Sing and learn from home was a very valuable program because let us be near families from Sirenaica and their children in an uncertain moment.

During this year we attended 450 students from their homes

Thank you because your support was very important for our children and for Fundación Sirenaica. We hope we can continue bringing music to children in Medellin

Thanks for your important support

This semester we started alternating classes: a few days in person and some days virtually, but that didn't last long. COVID returned to our city and we are on alert because there are no beds or oxygen to take care of the sick.

Since April we have been working and singing from the house

Some students are calmed, but some of them have had depression and anxiety difficulties, caused by the lockdown and the violent situation in Colombia. This last month, in alliance with Secretaría de Salud de Medellín, we held virtual meetings with 9 Fundación Sirenaica chorus to promote mental health.

These meetings were led by a group of psychologists that worked on emotional management. Audiovisual information about mental health caring was shared with the students.

They response was really honest, and very open; they shared their experiences, thoughts and feelings. They also spoke about their emotions during the lockdown or quarantine time, and how music and singing gave them stability and happiness.

We have not interrupted our work, that is why we need your support.

Again, art is important always buy now, we have felt it.

In Colombia, during December our children used to go many places to sing Christmas Carols and enjoyed knowing new places and receiving congratulations from the public

December 2020 was different because they couldn’t leave their homes but they sang a lot from there and they enjoyed watching their videos with their family.

SING AND LEARN FROM HOME was an excellent program because it allowed our children to have a pleasant time in the midst of difficulties and hope; we directtly impacted 450 people

We are really happy and grateful to share our work with you.

SING AND LEARN FROM HOME has been an interesting program because it has inspired us to create moments of joy, peace, serenity from home at times when things have not been easy for our families.

Giving motivation and putting knowledge of musical and artistic worlds in the everyday life of our kids, Yusef, a 10 year old boy, has been able to dream his room becomes a jungle where drums and wild songs sound, where he explores his talent, his sensitivity, his voice and body, by receiving classes with Sirenaica from home. Singing, he is building a more human and inspiring story about hope. 

There are many children like Yusef, who do this every day.
