Amplify Tolerance and Cross-Cultural Understanding

by Social Impact Media Awards (SIMA)

At SIMA we have a saying, "Documentary is Fatal to Prejudice." We combat intolerance, and advance cross-cultural understanding, social justice and education by curating, exhibiting and distributing extraordinary filmmaking from the front lines of today's global issues, in classrooms and communities around the globe. Your donation will help educators, communities and organizations leverage the power of social-impact media for a better world.

Our global society is facing major political, environmental and ideological challenges. A growing lack of respect for minorities and different cultures is dangerously uniting communities around stereotypes, hate & discrimination. To combat this, thought-leaders and advocates need more accessible and civic-action driven platforms to engage and empower communities. Educators need more trustworthy and compelling engagement resources to inspire students and help them foster global competency skills.

We create global participatory platforms (online, in communities and in academic institutions) connecting audiences, students, humanitarian and human rights organizations with the best contemporary impact media from our annual awards. Together, we mobilize support for causes, inspire global education, foster the values of peace, respect and diversity, and equip the next generation with the skills, mindsets, and cultural competence required in our ever-changing world.

Long-Term Impact

We will continue to grow our network of 1,500 filmmakers in 140 countries who are currently providing the bedrock of contemporary social impact storytelling that we amplify through our platforms. We aim to increase the number of students we are reaching from 40,000 to 140,000; and community organizers and organizations from 31 countries to 60. Your support will invest in their capacity to challenge viewpoints and inspire dialogue, empowering a more just, inclusive and open-minded world.
