PROGRESS REPORT:SIJONGE KUWE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROJECT:PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 2020 TO FEBRUARY 2021
Sijonge Kuwe Youth Development Project is a communitybased project in Khayelitsha offering technical skills training in art/cultural,business skills training and computer skills training and mentorship programmes to youth,women and people with disabilities of Khayelitsha and surrounding communities.
2.Overall goals and objectives
*Alleviate poverty in South Africa by providing art/cultural skills training to youth,women and people with disabilities.
*Provide basic business skills training to these groups to develop their businesses thereby providing employment opportunities.
*Encourage and promote food gargening projects for youth to fight unemployment and poverty
*Promote envitomental projects to make our townships clean.
*Provide computer skills training to these people
*Assist youth in HIV/Aids awarenes and educate them on HIV./Aids prevention
*Provide business counselling to these entrepreneurs.
Sijonge Kuwe Youth Development was very active during this quarter and our offices were only closed from 18 December to 4 January 2021.
3.1Ar/Cultural Skills Training
Training is in progress for 12 youth in art/cultural skills training and they will complete the training at
the end of Mach 2021.These people are trained to make beads,traditional wares like headgear,skirts and neckclaces.
3.2Business Skills Training
15 People were trained in basic business skills training during this period and the training covers the following:-
(a)Charecteristics of the Entrepreneur and how to set goals
(b)Marketing your products and completing SWOT analysis.
(c)Costing and Pricing
(d)How to draw up a business plan and Cash flow projection
(e)Record Keeping for the Business
22 Businesses were counselled during this period and counselling was mainly on record keeping,budgeting,marketing,business plan and assistance with sourcing of finance for those who want a business start ups.We provide aftercare to all our clients and the Business Advisor visits clients in their businesses at least twice a month to access and monitor business progress.

3.4Meetings attended/networking with other organisation
*Attended Khayelitsha Development Forum meeting about developments in Khayelitsha
*Meeting with Silulo Ulutho Technologies to discuss working relationships
*Attended Tendering briefings at False Bay College to access tenders for our organisation.
*Meeting with the Business Place about placing our clients to them
*Meeting with National Youth Development Agency abour referral of our clients to them.
