Thank you for helping ShelterBox provide emergency tented shelter and supplies to families that have lost their homes and possessions following natural disasters or conflict, and allowing them to rebuild their lives with dignity and in safety.

ShelterBox continues to respond to natural disasters and conflict across the globe. Your support has helped ShelterBox deliver boxes and other emergency supplies to Syrian families that continue to flee to neighboring countries as a result of the ongoing conflict and violence in the country, as well as families impacted by the typhoon in the Philippines and the flooding in Paraguay and Niger.

Syrian Crisis

It’s been three years since conflict broke out in Syria. More than 9 million people have been forced from their homes in the war-torn country amidst violence and unremitting fighting. The majority now remain within the borders with no home to go to and no possessions. Over 2.7 million refugees, three quarters of them being women and children, still seek safety and shelter across neighboring countries.  ShelterBox has sent aid to support more than 5,000 families in Syria, Iraqi Kurdistan, Lebanon and Jordan in some truly challenging situations.

ShelterBox’s most recent provision of aid included 200 tents and 1,200 blankets to displaced Syrian families. ShelterBox has worked with partners to provide tents, shelter repair kits, mosquito nets, water filters and carriers, blankets, groundsheets, SchoolBoxes and solar lamps as the conflict has continued.

You can still help us shelter families fleeing from conflict.  Your continued support has provided hope, comfort and a sense of normalcy to those who would otherwise be living in fear - thank you.

Philippines

It has been over a year since the Philippines was hit by Super Typhoon Haiyan leaving thousands of people homeless. To date, ShelterBox has distributed aid to help more than 7,200 families in need of shelter and assistance. Residents have begun rebuilding their homes and communities.

Paraguay

In May and June of this year, torrential rains caused flooding in the southwestern region of Paraguay, including in and around the capital Asunción.  More than 200,000 people were affected across six different provinces, leaving 70,000 without homes.  ShelterBox was able to distribute 488 ShelterKits to families in need and are continuing to monitor and evaluate the response.

Niger

Heavy rains and subsequent flooding have affected the Niamey, Tillaberi and Dosso regions.  A shipment of 200 ShelterBoxes has now been distributed in country. Restock has been packed and is currently on its way by sea to the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot in Accra, one of our prepositioned storage locations.

Other areas of disaster or conflict

ShelterBox continues to respond, monitor and assess disasters and conflict in areas such as Mexico, Iraq and Colombia.  With your support, ShelterBox can continue to provide emergency shelter and aid to survivors of disasters and conflict throughout the world - thank you.
