Hopeful for the Future!

By Carol Larsson | US Project Team

All of us at Harambee Centre appreciate your continued support for our program in Arusha, Tanzania. Together with our conscientious Tanzanian community leaders, we are privileged to be able to change lives.

The project leader and trainer, Gloria Sandilen, writes:  “Thank you very much to everyone for helping the girls and young women in our community to lead healthy and productive lives.”

One graduate, Nemburis, is now planning to open a roadside shop.  Nemburis was like many young girls in Arusha when she started the SEW program.  She did not attend secondary school because her family could not afford the tuition and she married at an early age.  After graduating from SEW and receiving a sewing machine, Nemburis began sewing clothes for a few women in her neighborhood.  Today, she is confident about the future and teaching her husband how to sew.  Together they are hopeful for the future and planning to move their sewing business from their home to a shop on the main road in their village.

Asante sana, from Harambee Centre.
