Sewing,patternmaking training for vulnerable girls

In Goma, 80 unemployed and out-of-school girls are waiting for an opportunity to rebuild their future through practical skills, psychosocial support, and entrepreneurship training. Many of these young women have been excluded from formal education and face poverty, economic dependency, violence, and exploitation. Through training in sewing, patternmaking, soap making, and small business development, this project aims to help them gain the skills, confidence, and knowledge they need to become economically self-reliant and create their own sources of income.

The project is currently in its preparation phase. We are identifying qualified trainers and selecting vulnerable girls who will participate in the program. The total project budget is US$53,345, and to date we have mobilized US$0 toward this goal. With the support and collaboration of GlobalGiving, we are confident that we can reach more donors and mobilize the resources needed to launch the project and reach all 80 girls.

Our expected results go beyond vocational training. We want each participant to leave the program with stronger technical skills, greater self-confidence, and a realistic pathway toward earning an income. We will measure progress through the number of girls trained, the number who establish or launch micro-enterprises, and changes in their income-generating capacity.
