In November 2025, The Sew Bee-Cause Foundation successfully delivered the Sew Empowered program in rural Nepal. We distributed 300 Angel Wings dignity kits and provided menstrual health education, empowering adolescent girls to manage their periods with dignity, stay in school, and thrive. Each kit included reusable pads, underwear, soap, a care booklet, and a carrying bag, helping restore confidence and break menstrual taboos.
For girls in Nepal, menstruation means missed school days, shame, and lost opportunities. Without access to safe menstrual products or accurate information, girls are forced to isolate themselves, fall behind in their studies, and sometimes even drop out entirely. The stigma is just as damaging as the lack of supplies. When periods are surrounded by silence and misinformation, girls grow up believing their bodies are something to hide.
The Sew Empowered program has a two-part approach: Angel Wings Kits with 8 reusable pads, 2 sets of underwear, soap, soap saver, and a discreet bag (lasting 2-3 years), made with upcycled fabrics and sustainable supplies, and Education & Empowerment sessions using culturally sensitive materials to address taboos and build confidence. Kits are sewn by UAE artisans and delivered to Nepalese communities with local partners.
When girls can manage their periods with dignity, they: Stay in school and complete their education. Build self-confidence, free from shame and stigma. Break the cycle of period poverty, as knowledge is shared peer-to-peer and across communities. By supporting this project, you are not just funding pads-you are investing in education, empowerment, and equity.
