In 2023, Send Them Back To School Project will support 45 underprivileged children (40 children and 5 young adults) from Kicukiro District , Kigali, Rwanda. This project will cover tuition fees and purchase school supplies for at least 40 primary and secondary school children. As well, as help cover the cost of school supplies and laptops for 5 young adults that are attending university.
98 % of Children in Rwanda are enrolled in Primary School yet only 71% complete it and only 28% are enrolled in Secondary School (UNICEF). Children living in poverty see their families having to choose between giving them the basic necessities and sending them to school. Such situation lead to drop out or children not having the chance to attend school at all. On the other hand the computers available in tertiary education is very low in numbers. Families can not either afford buying them.
We will work with the community and local schools to reduce the financial burden of these families and ensure that children stay in school. By covering their tuition fees, they will benefit from uniforms and meals for the entire academic year. The school supplies will also easy the learning process of these children. For the young adults in University, acquiring a laptop and other basic supplies will enable them to comfortably study their undergraduate.
The Project will educate 40 children in primary and secondary schools and will supply materials to 5 young adults throughout their university studies. Through this, they will gain the skills and knowledge they need to pursue better opportunities in the future with this foundational educational assistance.
