First off, we want to start off by sharing this lovely message from one of our partners in Lebanon, regarding a shipment from 2025:
"With the generous support of Distribute Aid, Anera recently received and distributed a full container of essential medical and mobility supplies to support people living with disabilities across Lebanon. This shipment included more than 120 mobility aids, including wheelchairs and crutches, and over 2,000 units of supplies such as gloves and underpads.
The donation was distributed to ten health centers, reaching vulnerable Lebanese outside refugee camps and Palestinians inside refugee camps. At a time when Lebanon’s economic crisis has deeply strained healthcare and support systems, this assistance is both urgent and transformative."
Now onto the update for our continued work
Jordan - Medical equipment
In our last update, we shared that we had an ultrasound machine ready for dispatch to Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan, where a lot of families from Gaza are being evacuated to. The limiting factor was funding to send this device over, along with other medical supplies, hygiene items, and shelter items. We currently have a full container's worth of medical supplies staged in the US which we are getting ready to send to the Levant region.
At the end of November, we put on a fundraiser together with The Palestine Hurrah Collective, which has allowed us to move forward with the planned shipment to Jordan! Our volunteer team is working on finalising the paperwork this week.
Lebanon - Hygiene and Medical support
Just as with Jordan, we have donations pledged to go to Lebanon that we are working on staging and finalising paperwork for. The donations include 40,000 reusable menstrual pads, water filters, tourniquets, and durable medical equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs, and hospital beds.
In Lebanon, the ministry of health is in a prepositioning state, improving the readiness of hospitals in anticipation of instability. Elderly support is needed, as well as medicine, hygiene kits, and medical equipment.
The cost of sending containers is a limiting factor. Any contribution toward this fundraiser will help us send out the items as soon as possible!
Palestine - Forced pause to aid delivery
Sadly, political influence is currently making it impossible for us, along with most humanitarian organisations, to deliver humanitarian supplies to Gaza and the West Bank. While we are doing what we can to provide for Palestinians who have been evacuated to Jordan and Lebanon, pressure must be put on Israeli authorities to allow humanitarian work to proceed in Palestine.
If you wish to help, please consider contacting your political representative and spreading awareness within your networks about the blockade on humanitarian aid and the ban on journalists that restrict information about conditions in Gaza.
