There are many programs funding girls’ education in Ethiopia. Unfortunately, many of these programs stop supporting girls after high school. At this age, these older teens are adults- and, without the appeal of childhood, it’s harder to fundraise to support them as they figure out life after high school. Sadly, this means that too many young women fall through the cracks as they make their transition from the world of a child to the world of an adult.
At Enhance Worldwide, we are committed to supporting the girls in our program through vocational school or college.
In August, Shewaye graduated from the Africa Medical College with a degree in pharmacy. We’ve been supporting Shewaye since she was in middle school. Instead of backing away after her high school graduation, we increased our support, helping her to navigate college applications, adjust to higher learning, and slowly increase her independence.
Thank you so much for supporting girls like Shewaye!
