Ethiopia has made remarkable progress towards girls’ education. According to UNICEF, 95% of girls are enrolled in some primary education; however, only 53% complete primary school, only 25% of secondary school-aged girls are attending school, and only 10% go on to college. Without support, most girls enrolled in elementary school this year won’t be there next year.
Across Ethiopia, girls face barriers in attending safe schools with quality education. Poverty, child labor, child marriage, housework and caring for younger siblings, son preference and gender-based violence rob girls of the opportunity to play, learn, and grow up safely. At Enhance Worldwide, we focus on eliminating these barriers so that girls can attend school, develop as individuals, engage with their community, and become the leaders of today and tomorrow.
We remain grateful for your support. Ethiopia has made tremendous strides in advancing girls’ education, and so have you. Thank you so much for supporting girls in Addis Ababa.
