We wish you and your families a healthy, happy and loving 2025 from the CW girls.
You missed this true story, so I am sending it a bit late so you will have a glimpse of normal CW success. This is how CW greatly impacts the life of a student.
Brisayda is in the 3rd grade and has no family in Cusco. Her parents are from Paucartambo, a small town about 6-7 hours by car from Cusco - pretty far away. Ruth and I have driven to their annual celebration honoring the Virgin Mother several times and impossibly far for family visits. Her father works outside of Cusco in another department, so Brisayda lives with her mother and younger sister. She is very aware of the dysfunction and violence in her family - since she was in first grade and demonstrates insecurity in decision making around her class assignments. Therefore, she was very slow to decide her actions in sharing her work with fellow students.
The CW staff psychologist has intervened with the family {teacher also present and supportive), and it is noted that Brisayda is improving and parents have also improved with the participation in these sessions with the psychologist. She is speaking in front of her class with more confidence to share her classwork, and math problems. Her mother has been learning also with Brisayda while helping her with class assignments and homework. Both mother and daughter are much improved.
Her mother gives Ruth permission: " Teacher Ruth is sharing this story of my daughter Brisayda in hopes it serves to help other students." The help from CW school community is changing her life and that of her family.

The Maria School Update:
CW's future when the (tuition-based ) 'Maria Tuition School' classes are filled, will be self-supporting. Covid upset our plans to open the Maria school in 2020 due to strict lock-down that lasted 2 years. We now have 7 students registered for 2025 and more registrations promised in Feb. for the Maria School for March 2025 school year.
NOTE: I Thank you all for hanging in there with us. We have a little way to go yet but the impact of our work is self-evident in the success of our girls...some are at the university today.
