Chicuchas Wasi(CW) School for Girls provides free primary education to underserved, indigenous girls. Our all female TEACHERS are specially prepared; to teach quality academics and Spanish to native Quechua speakers, make home visits to identify the home reality of the students and any family disfunction. CW provides education, personal development and empowerment needed for a secure future of economic independence, self esteem, confidence and become future leaders for gender equality.
Rural Quechua speaking girls are not educated - due to poverty, unsafe distance for 4-12 year olds to walk to school and gender bias favoring education of boys, due to belief that girls are inferior.Illiterate females are destined to suffer from hunger, poverty, rape, beatings, human rights violations and the inability to care for her children because she is uneducated, unskilled and economically dependent. Safe transportation to the CWschool insures a 99% attendance and a quality free education
Specially trained Teachers allow CW Girls education with Spanish and Quechua languages. Education prepares GIRLS/MOTHERS for an adult life of quality, dignity, equality, and financial independence. We are changing the age old belief from grandmother-mother-child, that women have no value. We see growth and change in our students & families. Safe BUS pick up and delivery near their homes protects girls and their mothers will allow them to attend. TEACHERS ARE THE BACKBONE OF EDUCATING OUR GIRLS
Girls receive the CW education designed for them & will encourage other girls with their success. CW includes personal development & empowerment of 126 girls be leaders in their society for gender equality . Educated rural females prepared for a life of economic security, will end child abandonment & be able to feed their children. Female leaders will be able to address abuse and discrimination, and have the personal confidence to stand up to a male dominated culture that does not value girl.
