Mfuleni Scholarship update

By Amy Ostroff | President, Love to Langa

Thanks to our generous donors, we have been able to sponsor scholarships at two Township schools. One of them, Mfuleni ECD, has been voted one of the top ten schools out of 300 in the township from City of Cape Town Social Development.  Last year, Mfuleni ECD was invited to perform in a concert for the City. Love to Langa was pleased to donate super hero costumes that the students wore for the concert.
Mfuleni ECD Principal, Sandra Lucas, said, "due to love to Langa supporting us with scholarships and other donations in kind we as a school are able to offer the children so much more. We are eternally grateful for their support."
Here are some of the children who are currently being sponsored at Mfuleni ECD:
Nikita is five years old. She lives with her father and 13-year-old sister as her mother passed away when she was very young. Her father has struggled to find full-time employment and is working part-time.
Alison is six years old. She is the second youngest of four children. She is very emotional right now as her mother just had her little brother and she is not happy about no longer being the baby of the family! Her parents struggle with school fees as her mother is not currently working and her father is self-employed.
Rapafadzo is six years old. She has a single mother who is a domestic worker and doesn't make enough to cover their needs.
Lutho L. is five years old and lives with a grandmother who is dependent on an old age grant. His mother disappeared and they don't know where she is.
Mihle M. is six years old. He was staying with a grandmother who passed away and now he is living with an aunt.
Gorgeous is six years old and lives with her single mother who struggles to pay their bills.
Mihle T. is six years old and has three siblings. They are living with another family currently as they are having a hard time.
Hlela was born on 11/11/11. Unfortunately, this lucky birthday hasn't helped her as her single mother died in November 2016.She is staying with her grandmother and is very shy and quiet.
Raphael is a very talkative boy, speaks a couple of languages, and lives with his single mother.
Lutho M. is five years old. His father was shot dead in violence during a taxi riot.
Thank you for making education possible for these beautiful and deserving children.
