We are grateful for the short holiday our students have had and they are well-rested. In January we received a student by the name Jane (not her real name) who is an orphan. She lost both parents and when she lost her grandmother, her life changed. She didn’t have anyone to pay her school fees, her uncles are alcoholics and they asked her to get married and if not she could go and do house help work. This poor girl knocked on every door for shelter and looked for someone to house her so that she could go to school.
Fortunately, someone advised her to visit the children’s department office and that is how she got to us. Jane is now in school and we are glad that we got a school nearby that accepted her and she is doing well. We didn’t have a sponsor for Jane and this was a challenge but we are grateful for one of our sponsors who took the responsibility to help pay for her fees, uniform, and other basic needs.
Your support has always enabled us not only to educate and provide basic needs for the children in our care but to also meet urgent needs for the children like Jane who are not in our system. It is hard to see orphans treated in this manner and get to the extent of going door to door and not knowing who they will meet. Many of them are misused, they become house helps and they stop going to school.
We highly appreciate your support, especially in helping our students to go through high school. This is the hardest part of our work because high schools are very expensive and they are very important in every child’s life since they are the gate to so many opportunities in a lifetime. Going or joining high school is one way of getting our communities out of poverty.
Kindly go through our page and share with others about the good work you are doing. We have few sponsors and it is our prayer that this year our number will increase to enable us to reach out to other students like Jane.
Thank you
