We started this program one year ago and we have given out 29 cows to 29 children. Half of the cows have calved and they are milked. The other half are in calf and we will be having calves throughout the year. Three litres of milk is sold and money saved towards the high school fees for the child anf the rest of the milk is for the family and upkeep of the cow. The calves are also kept to be sold for the payment of school fees. This is one of the ways that will see us pay high school fees for our children without struggle.
All beneficiaries are visited by our team after every three months to see that the cows are being taken good care of and they are in good condition. This also enables them to know if the cows are in -calf or if they have claved. They get to know how many litres of milk the cows are producing. We also have cows at the children home and they give us enough milk for the children and the rest is sold for the upkeep of the cows. Calves are then preserved for the high school fees for the children at the children home. This program has open ways for us to learn many things in dairy farming and the same knowledge is also given to the beneficiaries. This is not only benefititng the children in their education but it is also benefiting the entire community as they are getting knowledge to be better dairy farmers and they also have milk.
Most of the time our children are sent back home because of lack of school fees, having the savings from milk and the calves this will stop and our children will remain in school always. This gives them a good learning motivation and it enables them to do well in their exams.
We still have more children who we have not given cows and it is in this regard that we are requesting that you will share this cause with friends, family and groups to help buy more cows. Encourage more friends to visit our page and learn more. The cause is exceptional, visiting some of the beneficiaries is very much satisfying.
