This project will allow 50 children to go to school in Guatemala for 1 year, including all stationary, school activities and healthy meals under the supervision of certified and friendly local teachers.
Guatemala is one of the poorest countries in Latin America. The current state of the education system is substandard. Many classrooms do not have adequate teaching materials. Additionally, with more than half the population living below the poverty line, many children - especially rural and indigenous children - are forced to drop out of school to help support their families or because they are unable to afford the cost of uniforms, books, supplies and transportation.
The project will keep 50 children in school giving them the opportunity to rise out of poverty. 50 children will be provided with good teachers together with all the necessary school materials, activities and a healthy meal to combat the problems of malnutrition. The children of marginalized tribal communities will be empowered with increased quality education.
We have been working closely with children of Las Rosas in Guatemala for 11 years and have educated hundreds of children, empowering the community through affordable education and free enrichment programs, giving children a chance to create a better future and eventually opening up better job opportunities for each one, breaking the cycle of poverty. Instead of leaving school to work, children will have the chance to engage their intellectual curiosity and live in a more stable society.
