We never give up and neither do they!!

15 year old Anirudh(Name Changed), suffers from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). His parents initially could not diagnose his condition and thus were absolutely clueless about his attitude. They always considered him as a spoilt brat. Luckily for him, his father took him to a hospital and was able to ascertain his condition. His attention definiteness caused him to fair poorly in education and thus was removed from school.
Aaina identified him and took him under its observation. He was enrolled in State Learning Centre, Aaina, Bhubaneswar, were his treatment began. We initially tried psychosocial therapy to help him concentrate and focus in whatever task he is indulged in. We got him engaged in preacademic activities, like “Color matching, “Letter Matching”, Object Matching and painting to make him able to focus and learn basic non academic skill that is prerequisite to academic learning. With our efforts and his will power, he is now able to play indoor games like chess, which was never his cup of tea. With these encouraging results, we are hopeful to enroll him in a preschool to resume his education.
We believe in bringing about, small yet a sure change.

Sailing through: Stories of Hope

10 year old Dibyanshu (Name changed), who is deafblind and has locomotor disability, was dependent on her mother for his day to activity. A good education seemed to be a far fetched Idea to his parents but now, things has changed , to quote his mother “Dipu is enjoying whole day in the classroom”.
Aaina took responsibility of him last year. His physiotherapy began with the prelimnary treatment that included, making her able to walk using a walker and teach him sign language. A year after our intervention, he was able to take those few steps out of his disability. He has now learned sign language and is able to convey his though effectively. Our goal is to exploit his true potential as an artist. He is gifted with his remarkable ability to sketch his dreams on paper. With our sessions and interaction, He is now able to understand verbal communication through lip reading and can understand upto 100 words.
Our next phase of intervention is to enable him to walk without anybody’s support and be able to excell in his endevour to be an artist.

Busting the myth of Disability!

10 year old Radha(Name changed), who has multi sensory impairement and was neither able to talk or stand on her own did something so incredible. She, now, stood on her own and called her “Mother”.
Aaina took responsibility of Radha on 9th of Novemmber, 2015 . Her physiotherapy began with the prelimnary treatment that included, making her able to speak basic vocabulary and teaching her to walk using a baby walker. Two years after our intervention, she was able to take those few steps out of her disability and was able to walk with minimum support using wall and railings. She is also able to undertake her daily activities including eating with her own hands and changing her clothes. She is able to use, limited but effective vocabulary skills. Using arts and toys she is now able to recite Odia alphabets and count numbers. She turned out to be an excellent artist and never fail to astonish us with her artistic ability.
Our next phase of intervention is to enable her to write words and simple sentences on own and soon enough, she will be enrolled in a school, a dream that seemed an impossible task few years ago.
