We Did it Together!!!

By geetika chandra | Development Manager and PR

Dear Friends!!!

It has been almost 3 years with you as we worked  towards our project of Sending 1000 children with disability to school.  We have come a long way and it could not have been possible without your kind support. Your constant support helped us move towards our target with conviction. Today we have children enrolled in schools as they have assistive devices to improve on their mobility, their transportation is being taken care of, they have study materials at their disposal and teacher are better equipped on how to deal with the children with disability. It was not just about sending the children to school but change in perception in the minds of community towards disability by setting examples. You all have played a significant role in creating that mind shift.

Now we are in the process of developing bridge centers for identified children with disability. We definitely do not want to stop at enrollment of the children to schools but want to make sure their retention through their quality participation. The bridge centers at different geographic locations will provide extra guidance needed to the cluster of  children within the 1 km radius . The extra coaching is to fill the gaps if any for students in coping with the current academics of the schools they are going to.  We are in the process of developing 10 such bridge centers to cover all the children.

Yet wonderful news that we are delighted to share is that our project was selected as “project of the month Club” by GlobalGiving for April!!! The project has been selected for high-impact project that will benefit from the GG Club's donations! We may be able to raise about $10,000 from the pool of the Club members! Aaina plans to dedicate those funds for our Deafblind children. The funds will be utilized to provide providing remuneration to therapists of the children, creation of adaptive materials to improve children’s communications and ADL skills,   and purchasing materials for the  Resource Center to develop communication and mobility.  With the raised amount we will also be reaching our goal of sending 1000 children to school! As discussed we won’t stop here but assure quality education and participation of the children in schools. Developing of bridge centers is one major step that we have already started. We will take necessary measures for their continued quality education.  With your handholding this all has been possible and cannot thank you more for that. Hope your partnership will continue. Kindly accept due regards from the Aaina team.
