By Tlalana | Coordination Team
Tlalaná, as a project focused on young people, is strengthening its methodology. We are testing new tools for measuring our impact and the collectives are starting to show us what they can do to transform their communities. With our mutual help, three different youth-led projects have an ambitious plan to transform their communities for the better. Find out more about it below!
Enchúlame la Bici
For the second time this collective is about to start working with young people that have a record or are close to becoming drug addicts. This includes a 200 hour workshop and a personal project that each of them will be following involving mechanical skills, community leadership and empowerment. We will tell you all about it as soon as this second group finishes the program.
El Sabio Pensil
Our vegetable garden has taught us some valuable lessons as a collective project. Among them, one of the most valuable is the organization capabilities that we have developed to get the results we want from it. We designed the “Responsibility cycle” that allows us to take care of its needs and, in the process, we developed a model that can be put into practice by other youth collectives. This model is now part of our facilitation sessions with the collectives. All the meanwhile, the garden has now corn, beans and pumpkin growing, along with citronella, more blackberries and more than 20 more flower plants, vegetables and others.
DFbaila
DFbaila has been looking at expanding its reach, first looking inside. The collective is starting to put into practice their new teaching – learning model. Its principles are based on Intercultural Education. We developed a brand new model through the joint efforts between our facilitation team and this collective. We worked hard on improving the level of communication and community integration during the bachata and salsa classes this collective gives and the first group of young people are starting to discover themselves and their surroundings in a new way through dancing. Soon you’ll be hearing about their results with this new model.
With your help we can do this and more!
