by Adeco Acciones para el Desarrollo Comunitario A.C.

This project will allow groups of young leaders to plan developmental projects for their communities. The goal is to elaborate social projects and to change the communitys perception toward their youth.

In Mexico, poor communities' lack of educative, working, social and political spaces for youth, restrains personal and group development. This has several consequences: 1.) school desertion, 2.) difficulties for applying knowledge and skills at the local context, 3.) migration to big cities and to the United States 4.) little participation of youth in decision making and in local change, and 5) lack of activities that enables them to congregate to discuss these problems.

Our project will create and train organized groups which facilitate developmental projects for their communities. In order to strength social capital, groups will be connected through Internet with other groups and advisers.

Long-Term Impact

Creation of their own spaces of expression, interaction and local work, diminishing school desertion and migration flows to other regions. Similarly, recognition from their communities as a defined sector with particular needs and qualities will be explored.
