HAPPY NEW YEAR !
Hope year 2021 will bring new hopes and blessings for all!
IDEA Foundation’ s self-care support project for women started as a side track of its educational initiatives. While working in slums in the city and underprivileged communities in rural areas we found out that hygiene and health care is not at all a priority for these people.
Before starting with our main objectives of our educational and women empowerment projects in less privileged communities, we understood that we had to also deal with things which will keep a community's physical and mental health in check. Otherwise, these programs would not have yielded the result which we were aiming for. People here, especially women were not at all in good health, and they seldom visited a doctor. Anemia, due to frequent pregnancies and menstrual health were our major concern. IDEA kept on arranging regular health checkups and medicine in these communities. We were also conducting awareness drives on hygiene and nutrition for children as well as for parents periodically. So far everything was going on smoothly.
But now as COVID-19 continues to spread and it is impacting almost every individual and their livelihood, we cannot opt for a lockdown. We understand that we have more responsibility and commitment as an NGO ensuring health care of our beneficiaries and their family members. Covid spread prevention in these underprivileged communities stand out as an ultimate necessity at present. We are continuing our work with more deliberate attempts to make people aware of the current scenario and to accelerate Nation's fight against COVID 19. Our social workers visit these places and keep distributing the hygiene kit and give information about the seriousness of this disease, physical distancing, use of masks and maintaining cleanliness to prevent the spread of disease.
None of us know what this pandemic situation holds in future, but we have to be prepared and help everyone around us to be prepared too. Carelessness can lead to disaster, so we are trying our best not to be panic but to get help wherever possible.
Help us to reach out to more people and provide the help needed.
Thank you!
