Dear friends,

Greetings from IDEA!

Hope you are safe! We are writing to thank you for your continued support to this project. Because of your contribution, hundreds of women from our various skilling courses have received information on various topics like nutrition, health tests, menstrual health, and the importance of self-care. Due to the spread of Coronavirus and the subsequent lockdown, we have moved these self-care sessions online.

Smart-phones have been a real boon for these underprivileged women. They have been taking IDEA’s digital literacy classes too, where we teach them the basics of computers and the internet. Because of this knowledge, women are now comfortable to join us for online sessions.

Our team has divided the women into manageable groups and one resource person conducts online sessions for each group on various topics related to health and self-care. So far various topics have been covered including awareness about the coronavirus pandemic, the importance of social distancing and handwash, how to take care of one’s physical and mental health during the lockdown, how to take care of mental and physical health of one’s children, the importance of nutrition to improve immunity, anger and stress management, etc.

We are happy that women are taking a lot of interest in these sessions. They say that these sessions refresh them, and practical knowledge is proving to be very beneficial in these distressing times, plus they also get a chance for talking about their fears and anxieties. Our team is conducting these sessions to motivate the women, encourage them to work on themselves, and move forward with hope.

These women are all either daily wage earners or run micro-businesses. Due to the closing of large parts of the formal and informal economy during this lockdown, many have lost their jobs and their businesses have been rendered non-functional. Their saving has dried up, many are struggling to survive. Migrants are risking their lives to return to their villages. We have to help them!

As an immediate response, IDEA has started a campaign to help them survive the lockdown by making bank transfers for them to buy groceries, medicines, female hygiene products, and other essentials. We have made bank transfers to many women from this project too. But there are thousands of women still struggling to make ends meet during this lockdown, they need immediate help!

We request you to please donate to this project so that we can help underprivileged women from this self-care project buy groceries, medicines, and female hygiene kits.
