Challenge

(UNOCHA, March 2023), reports 375,000 internally displaced persons as a result of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Northwest Cameroon. Majority are young girls, women and children forced to flee their homes to seek shelter and safety, leaving behind their livelihoods. Their vulnerability is exacerbated by the trauma they have experience and the need for food, shelter, health and education which exposes them to conflict related sexual slavery. This project will have 25 direct beneficiaries.

Solution

This project will equip 25 girls with marketable skills through vocational training in in-demand fields like tailoring, hair dressing and Cameroon traditional embroider to enable them improve their quality of life. Equally, we will provide digital literacy, business skills, and entrepreneurship trainings, basic start-up, coaching and mentorship to enable them start and run individual business. We will also provide psychosocial support to help them heal from trauma and build self-confidence.

Long-Term Impact

The project will empower 25 girls with vocational skills thus Increasing their earning potential as they will find jobs to support themselves and their families. Boost their self-esteem: Learning valuable skill will foster confidence and a sense of accomplishment. Break the cycle of poverty: vocational education will empower girls to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
