FOOD. HEALTH. OPPORTUNITY.

Dear Valued Partner:

First, we sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are well.

Thank you for making a difference to women's communities in rural East Africa. Your support made it possible for 3,000 women to graduate from the Seedlings and Soap program with the skills and inputs to grow food for their families. Currently, 1,500 mothers across 2 counties in rural Kenya now participate in the program. Mothers determine what to grow for their families. Working together on community land, each women’s group grows seedlings which are then divided and replanted in home gardens.

COVID continues to impact food security. Jobs are difficult to find. In our partner communities, families must choose between buying food or sending their children to school. This program lessens some of that sting by helping mothers grow nutrient dense vegetables for their families.

This week GlobalGiving will match by 50% all donations of $50 or less to this project! Thanks for your consideration and for your past support!

Wishing you continued good health.

With gratitude,

East African Children’s Fund

Dear Valued Partner,

Thank you for your support of women’s community groups in Kenya, East Africa.  Your generosity made it possible to bring seeds, skills and small tools to more than 5,000 mothers in Kenya, East Africa so that they can grow food for their families during these difficult times. You are making a difference!

COVID-19 continues to spread in Kenya. Most of the mothers in this program are the bread winners for their families. They rely on work as a casual laborer taking day jobs. All of this has changed with COVID, and these jobs are now hard to find because of social distancing requirements and the contraction of the economy.

Mothers participating in the program report that they wouldn't have access to fresh food without these gardens. Most women walk more than 5 kilometers to get to their markets, and with COVID, these markets are often closed.

Beatrice, a participant, reports "Food in the market is becoming expensive everyday due to the effect of the lockdown. Because it's also challenging to find work now, it is harder to feed my children. Our garden has helped a lot to get us through these hard times."

For $25, EAC Fund can provide a mother with seeds and skills to grow food for her family for one year. This Mother's Day, please consider a gift to help mothers feed their families!

Thank you for your consideration. Please stay safe and well.

With continued gratitude,

Lisa Peracchio

Dear Valued Partner:

First, we sincerely hope that you are well.

Thank you for making a difference to women's community groups in rural Kenya, East Africa. Because of your support, this program Seedlings and Soap now provides kitchen gardens for 5,000+ mothers and 15,000+ children. It's a group effort!

East African Children's Fund provides seeds, skills and small toools to women's groups to grow seedlings on community plots. The seedlings are then transferred to mothers to grow food at their homes. Kitchen gardens ensure that children get vitamins and nutrients for proper growth. One mother, Rosalia, reports "I am the bread winner in a household of 5. I never had a kitchen garden before. I planted tomatoes, kales and spinach. My family was able to eat these foods and I also sold some to raise some money." Thank you for making a difference to families like Rosalia's.

There are many inspiring organizations so we’re humbled and grateful for your past support. Thank you! Wishing you continued good health.

With gratitude,

East African Children’s Fund

P.S.: 100% Direct Giving: 100% of your donations supported farming programs for school children and women's community groups in rural East Africa.
