From the Oaxaca Community Foundation, we want to contribute to strengthening and boosting the productivity of small groups of artisans from the State of Oaxaca, through small investments of seed capital and support in their development. The intention of this project is to generate a fund that allows small donations to be given to artisan groups that are close to the Foundation and who, due to their size or lack of experience, cannot access broader resources or calls from specialized institutions
Oaxaca is one of the states of Mexico with the greatest economic and social lag, and it also concentrates a very wide diversity of indigenous peoples, which are mainly supported by small-scale agriculture and the production of traditional products and handicrafts. Therefore, after many years the Oaxaca Community Foundation has verified that the investment, strengthening, and accompaniment of these groups, can be decisive in their growth to achieve a more stable, innovative production.
Many of the products that artisans make, have a local sale and prices are not rigorously established, nor do they have an idea of the value of their production costs, etc. Therefore, our initiative seeks to preserve the tradition of doing what they have done for a long time but strengthened in their production processes and with technical, administrative and commercial support.
Strengthening the capacities of grassroots groups is, without a doubt, a great social investment, since it guarantees the continuity of the processes that are started, with the due support of regional organizations. In addition, the generation of income from the activities of each group gives the possibility of having access to other resources and services.
