Project Report, June 2022

By Lula Belinfante | Fundraising Manager

Schools in Cambodia have consistently remained open since January 2022, and the country is beginning to fall into a new rhythm and sense of normality. The economic impact across the country has placed an additional burden on families, particularly those already financially vulnerable. Although education is free in Cambodia, families still need to pay for school uniforms and books, which can be prohibitive costs.

That is why simple initiatives like the conditional cash payment programme remain relevant.

With your support, in March, 41 families received cash payments of £49 to support their children to go to school. Most families used this support to buy their children's books, pens and uniforms. One of the intended impacts of this programme is the retention of children in school and regular attendance. We monitor and record the attendance of all the students supported by the programme to see if this is being achieved. We are pleased to see that over the last four months, supported students attended school on average 96% of the time, meaning that they are receiving the education needed for a brighter future.

Thank you to all our supporters who continue supporting children to stay and learn in school.
