Provide an opportunity for a young Tanzanian woman to attend secondary school, and transform her life -- and the future of her family and community -- forever.
In Tanzania, only 5% of girls complete a secondary school (high school) education. Young girls, in particular, face challenges in finding the funds needed to continue with their education; when forced to choose, parents generally send only their sons to school.
By supporting a young woman in her aspirations to go to high school, you are fundamentally changing her life by giving her the chance for sustained employment, & you are also providing a powerful role model for the generation of girls who follow her.
The benefits of girls' education for individuals and families are well-documented: educated girls are one-third less likely to contract HIV/AIDS; the children of African mothers with 5 years of education have a 40% better chance of living to age 5.
