This project will build a facility for research, an educational center, a hatchery and a watcher's quarters that will contribute to the protection and conservation of Hawksbill and Green Sea Turtle Species threatened to extinction.
There is a lack of awareness in the preservation of green sea turtles in the area that threaten them to extinction due to loss of nesting ground due to sea level rise, poaching, pollution, habitat destruction, human exploitation which in turn destroy the marine ecosystem of Danjugan Island.
This project will enhance the awareness of the beneficiary community on sea turtles' ecology and their life cycle to prevent these creatures from extinction. it will be able to capacitate the local community residents to monitor the sea turtle nesting and hatching, respond and address issues that are threats to the area. Building a hatchery can improve the survival rate of the hatchlings. It will provide a venue for experiential learning for government and private entities.
The project aims to educate the community about the ecology of marine life for it's conservation. Protecting a marine ecosystem can benefit all life on earth. It provides climate regulation, food, jobs, livelihoods, and economic progress for the people of Danjugan Island and its neighboring communities as well as saving the turtles to extinction who play a very important role for a healthy marine life.
