A true story from a social media: "Several kids escape from school class in order to visit Muzeiko's travelling exhibit "The Inventions" in the House of Humor in Gabrovo - a small town in Bulgaria". Yes, this happens when the travelling exhibit of Muzeiko - the children's museum in Sofia, goes to other towns in Bulgaria. When we give the opportunity for kids to learn by playing and experimenting. When we inspire them to be inventors! Now, we need support for its next stop - Plovdiv 2019!
Teachers in Bulgaria rarely bring their classes out of school to museums, simply because the traditional museums do not have the approach, the exhibits, and the programs for kids. Very few museums in Bulgaria have specialists that can design programs for school groups and families with kids. At the same time, due to high investment costs, it is not possible to have an interactive science museum in every city in Bulgaria, or even to have a small interactive exhibits in existing museums.
The "Inventions" travelling exhibit of Muzeiko provides a unique opportunity for kids, teachers and parents to explore science and to believe that everyone can be an inventor. By locating the travelling exhibit in Plovdiv - we will give the chance to many children from the whole region, even the smallest villages, to experience the wonders of science without the need to travel far. We will show the teachers what they can do in class through the numerous STEM workshops that will be provided.
When Muzeiko goes to a new location with its travelling exhibits, we also transfer our knowledge to the local people, thus ensuring long-term impact and sustainability. The "Inventions" exhibit can serve as an inspiring connection between museum workers, teachers and children in Plovdiv, through establishing the grounds for a change from a passive to interactive STEM programming and education.
