After several years of feeding and clothing children in 5 orphanages in Haiti, Life Is Hope would like to have these children in school on a daily basis. We believe that the first step is locating a bus that can be used to get the children to the school safely. After that we will focus on land and a building. The bus can be used for transportation needs until all components are together.
Life Is Hope currently supports 5 orphanages in the outlying areas of Port Au Prince, Haiti. These children are currently not in a school on a daily basis which is a big problem. We would like to purchase a bus that we would ship to Haiti and use as mode of transportation to and from the school every day. We have some land we are looking at to build this school. But, we truly feel the bus is the first step because it can be used while the other components are coming together.
The bus will be a mode of transportation to get them to a school which is the umbrella plan. None of our children attend school now on a steady basis and this would get them closer to that goal. We are working toward purchasing land for this school now. The orphanages we work with began out of need after the earthquake happened. Thus, we have children of various ages and eduactional backgrounds all with a huge gap in their learning process.
Life Is Hope has people on the ground in Haiti now that can help lead the school and find teachers. We would hope this would become a school not only for our sponsored children but for others in the area that are in need. This would also be a way to create jobs in the community for teachers, cooks, janitors, etc..so the long term effects could be tremendous in an area that has so little now.
