To ensure access to safe drinking water, 12 water filters (13 liter capacity) were provided to Shree Kandeshwori Basic School, located in Kanda, Rapti Municipality-13, Chitwan. The school, which runs up to Grade 8, serves students entirely from the marginalized Chepang community.
These stainless-steel water filters, fitted with Tulip ceramic candles designed by Basic Water Needs (Netherlands), remove protozoans and turbidity from drinking water. Before distribution, students and teachers received orientation on the use and maintenance of the water filter. Previously, students drank directly from a tap, as the school lacked any water purification system.
Now, with water filters placed in classrooms, students have easy access to safe drinking water. The school child club is taking responsibility for keeping the water filters clean and well-maintained.
One student shared, “We used to drink from the tap outside. Now we can drink clean water in the classroom and stay hydrated.”
Thank you for your continued support in improving the health and well-being of students in remote areas.
