Two bins for disposing sanitary pads and other sanitary waste were supported in Lalit Kalyan Secondary School located in Lalitpur district of central Nepal. The objective of providing these materials was to make the students aware about the importance of proper management of menstrual waste, which would help to improve menstrual hygiene among female students. The bins were handed over to the school teachers at ECCA office, where they were also oriented on how to utilize it properly.
Ms. Sunita, teacher at Lalit Kalyan Secondary School, said, “the school toilets don’t have waste collection bins and the girls feel uncomfortable wearing the same sanitary pad all day or putting them in a plastic bag and taking back home. There are often used sanitary pads lying on the toilet floor. Now onwards these bins will help to manage those problems. We are very thankful for the support.”
Proper management of used sanitary pads has helped to improve the school environment.
We also thank you for your continued support.
