Report - Barrio San Pablo School Desk/Tables Project
AgInno Institute
December 21, 2024
Problem Statement
Public schools in Guatemala, especially in the indigenous areas, are poorly equipped and funded. Poor facilities and equipment is a contributor to the high dropout rate during elementary school (about 50%). One of these schools is in Barrio San Pablo in a part of Chisec, Guatemala. AgInno Institute previously provided a new kitchen for the school to enable them to provide food for the children. However, they are currently using old, broken, homemade desks and tables.
Campaign Objectives
Provide new desks for each of the 156 students in the school and a new table for each of the four classrooms. This will enable the students to do their work more effectively and comfortably, and enable the teachers to better present lessons.
Campaign Goal $4700 for 156 desks and 4 tables for the primary school in Barrio San Pablo.
Results
This project was fully funded as a result of generous donations received during the Giving Tuesday event at the beginning of December of this year. These funds have been sent to our Board Member in Chisec, Guatemala, and the desks and tables will be purchased during the first week of January, 2025. Classes will resume in February after the winter break (Guatemalan students have a winter break similar to the summer break in the United States), and the students will be greeted by their new desks. The teachers will also have their new work tables prior to the start of classes in February. The school director is excited to be able to improve the education experience in his school, and he is very grateful for the generosity of all our donors. AgInno Institute will provide an update with photos of the new desks once classes restart in the new yearchise. Stay tuned!
