Scholarship Students Report on their Summer Internships
Kato-san, The President of the Sendai YMCA International Hotel and Pastry School, is very happy to report the five scholarship students are making good progress.
They finished their internship program this summer and last week, the students and Kato-san visited several luxury hotels in Tokyo to gain insights for their job-hunting activities.
Akane, Reo, Honoka, Aoi, and Yuina present a PowerPoint video about their summer luxury hotel internship program. Kato-san reports their English has improved a bit and some of them comment on how they need to study English further after having customer experiences.
Earlier this year Kato-san shared that Endo-san, TAMF adviser and Taylor bunko bookshelf maker, dedicated their new Taylor Anderson Reading Corner (Taylor bunko). The 33rd Taylor Bunko was dedicated on March 15th when Endo-san presented Kato-san with a voucher for books and the bookshelves. The bunko compliments the English studies standards of the program which are useful in the tourism industry the students will enter.
GlobalGiving Giving Tuesday Donations Matched on December 3rd
If you’re considering a donation to TAMF this year, Giving Tuesday is the day to do it! This 24-hour campaign takes place on GivingTuesday, a global day of giving celebrated by nonprofits, corporations, and donors alike! GlobalGiving is offering a $750,000 Incentive Fund that will be distributed to participants proportionally based on final fundraising totals. The donor cap is $1,800. The more we raise, the more matching money we earn!
With GlobalGiving’s matching funds on Dec 3rd (from midnight to 11:59 PM), your donation will make more impact!
Many of the students need scholarships to attend the Sendai YMCA International Hotel and Pastry School because of economic hardships, some caused by the 2011 Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. The Sendai YMCA and TAMF provide these scholarships jointly.
Thank you for the support you have given these students. It is your help which makes it possible for them to pursue their chosen careers.
